How to clear fault codes on Case machinery?

Clearing fault codes from a specific equipment or vehicle depends on the make and model and the diagnostic tools available. Typically, a diagnostic scanner is required to read and clear fault codes. Here’s a general procedure for clearing fault codes using a diagnostic scanner:

  1. Locate the diagnostic port: Find the diagnostic port, which is usually located under the dashboard near the steering column or in the engine compartment.
  2. Connect the diagnostic scanner: Plug the diagnostic scanner into the diagnostic port. Some scanners have universal connectors, while others may require adapters for specific makes and models.
  3. Turn on the ignition: Turn the ignition key to the “ON” position, but do not start the engine. This will provide power to the diagnostic system and allow the scanner to communicate with the vehicle’s computer.
  4. Read the fault codes: Follow the instructions provided by the diagnostic scanner to read the fault codes stored on the vehicle’s computer. Note any fault codes that are displayed.
  5. Clear the fault codes: Use the scanner’s “Erase” or “Clear” function to clear the stored fault codes. This will reset the vehicle’s computer and remove the stored codes. Some scanners may require you to follow specific steps or procedures for your specific make and model.
  6. Turn off the ignition and disconnect the scanner: Once the fault codes have been cleared, turn off the ignition and disconnect the diagnostic scanner from the diagnostic port.
  7. Test drive or operate the equipment: Operate the equipment or vehicle to ensure the issue has been resolved. If the fault codes return, further diagnosis and repair may be required.

Remember that clearing fault codes without addressing the underlying issue may only be a temporary fix, and the codes may return. Therefore, it’s essential to diagnose and repair the problem that caused the fault codes to appear in the first place to ensure a long-term solution. If you need to become more familiar with diagnosing and repairing equipment or vehicles, it’s best to consult a professional technician for assistance.
