International 9000-Series Trucks
The International 9000i truck series includes truck tractors of three primary varieties: 9200, 9400, 9800, and 9900. All International 9000 series trucks are designed to work in road trains weighing up to 63 tons.
The general design of all International 9000 models is almost identical. Their main differences are in the configurations, engine parameters, wheelbase parameters, as well as cab equipment.
The main power units for the International 9000i are Caterpillar C10/C15 engines with a capacity of up to 600 horsepower or Cummins variations with a return of up to 600 horsepower. They are equipped with mechanical gearboxes with up to 18 gears, brake pneumatic systems, ABS, and aluminum fuel tanks with a capacity of 1,135 liters.
Also, the standard equipment of the International 9000 series trucks includes a three-seat cab, four types of living quarters, and two interior trim options: Eagle and Sky-Rise with sleeping areas, a refrigerator, and a TV, as well as a toilet.
The most effective modification of the International 9900 is equipped with an engine with up to 600 horsepower capacity, an aluminum cabin, and all types of living quarters. But the cabover tractor International 9800 is the most popular.
International 9200 – leading truck tractors with a bonnet layout, produced since 2004. International 9200 received recognizable “American” features on the exterior. Outside, the car is decorated with a branded false radiator grille, covered with chrome. Access to the high cab of the truck is not difficult and is carried out using convenient steps. The large and spacious cabin of the International 9200 can give the driver real comfort. The instrument panel is decorated with wood-like elements, giving the interior respectability and solidity. Many different devices are located quite ergonomically. All devices are well readable, and access to them is not difficult. Behind the driver’s seat is a kind of rest room available on more expensive versions of the International 9200. It has a full bed, air conditioning, a heater, and many other options.
International 9200 vehicles are equipped with Cummins ISX, Cummins ISM, and Caterpillar C15 power units. Variable geometry Holset turbocharger can provide a quick response to pressing the accelerator pedal and reduce turbo lag. Optionally available are electronic engine control systems, single and double air filters, various clutches and cooling impellers, radiators, and block heating from the network. In addition, the 9200 series tractors are equipped with a choice of 10-speed manual transmissions or 18-speed robotic transmissions.
In 2004, a new generation of the popular International 9800 mainline tractors appeared. This model has already established itself as exceptionally reliable and durable in the North American market. With timely maintenance, International 9800 trucks can provide true American reliability. The car received a strong and, at the same time, lightweight single-layer frame. The cabover cab of the International 9800 is made of light alloys, which made it possible to reduce the truck’s weight. A large glass area can provide excellent front and side visibility. A convenient cab raising system provides easy access to the main components and assemblies of the car. In the interior of the International 9800, everything is designed so that the driver can work and at the same time have a good time.
The power unit of the International 9800 is the Cummins ISM engine, with a power of 370 hp. The maximum torque of 1970 Nm is already reached at 1200 crankshaft revolutions. The Cross Flow radiator can provide fast engine cooling with an area of 6350 cm2. International 9800 received two fuel tanks, with a total volume of 750 liters. The truck is equipped with a 4-channel ABS Bendix AntiLock Brake System.
