UTB Tractors
Uzina Tractorul Brașov, commonly known as UTB, was a Romanian tractor and heavy machinery manufacturer in Brașov, Romania. Established in 1946, the company initially focused on repairing agricultural machinery and locomotives. However, it eventually expanded its operations to manufacturing tractors and other heavy equipment.
UTB was best known for its Universal tractor series, widely used in Eastern Europe and exported to other countries. The Universal series included various models, such as the U-445, U-550, U-640, U-650, and U-651. These tractors were known for their simplicity, reliability, and affordability. Among these, the U-650 model was one of the most popular tractors produced by the company.
In addition to the Universal series, UTB manufactured other agricultural machinery and heavy equipment, including combine harvesters, trailers, and engines.
However, UTB struggled with the transition to a market economy following the fall of communism in Romania.
