What types of scanners does the dealer use to work with the Dodge Ram?
Depending on the model year, the following are used:
- Until 2005 inclusive – DRB-III
- 2006 – 2009 – wiTech, StarMobile or StarScan.
- From 2009 to the present time – wiTech or StarMobile with the application wiTech.
Over the years, diagnostic complexes were improved.
- The DRB-III was a standard Stand-Alone device.
- StarMobile was an application program that uses a network interface to communicate with the car. The program itself was able to do a lot, but for full-fledged work it was necessary to keep in touch with a single server of the manufacturer.
- StarScan was the same program as StarMobile, but packed together with the communication interface in a sturdy case with a large screen. Because of this, it resembled the traditional Stand-Alone device, but in fact it was not.
- In wiTech from Stand-Alone there is nothing practical left. The principle of its operation resembles StarMobile, except that the diagnostic complex does not just require access to the network, but itself is a network structure. To the diagnostic socket is connected a small interface with its own address and connection via the Wi-Fi channel, after which the work with the car is conducted from any point of the network, with direct access and information exchange with a single server.
I just ran an OBD for my 2010 Ram 1500 and received three P-codes. 0221, 2135, 2101. Scrolling through your list I found only the 2135. What happened to the other two?
I’m having problems with the code P1682 any advice would be of help
