Mecalac wheel loaders

Mecalac AS loaders have two important features that distinguish them from other loaders in their class. Firstly, the Mecalac AS is handled not by an articulated mechanism but by the rotation of all four wheels. Secondly, their bucket is mounted on a boom with its horizontal rotation mechanism, mounted in front of the cab, and swivels up to 90° left or right. Thanks to these two technical features, compared to conventional loaders, the Mecalac AS family of loaders have a noticeably smaller turning radius, can move “crab,” and, most importantly, need about half the space to maneuver on the side of the loaded truck. Due to this, during loading operations, they travel a shorter distance, which means they save fuel.

In addition, the possibility of lateral rotation of the boom allows the use of some attachments not only directly in front of the loader but also to the side of it, which is impossible for models with a traditional design of working bodies. But attachments such as, for example, a road tamper, a road broom, or a mower for maintaining the condition of roadsides require, first of all, to be used away from the axis of movement of the machine. Moreover, the pivoting boom allows any Mecalac AS to be used as a lightweight pipelayer.

Mecalac’s range of swing arm wheel loaders currently consists of five basic models: AS600, AS700, AS900, AS1600, and AS210e. Plus a modification of the AS900tele with the possibility of telescoping the boom. The operating weight of the “youngest” Mecalac AS600 in this family is 4.4 tons, and it is equipped with buckets with a capacity of 0.6–0.8 m3 and a 49-horsepower diesel engine. The following AS700 and AS900 loaders in the line are unified among themselves in terms of body, cab, and power line – they are equipped with a 75 hp diesel engine. The operating weight of the first is 5.1, and the second is 6.6 tons. The bucket height of the AS900tele equipped with a telescopic boom has been increased by about one and a half meters. Mecalac AS1600 is a serious construction machine with an operating weight of 11 tons, a 136-horsepower engine, and a main bucket capacity of 1.6–2.5 m3. In the engine compartment of the most lifting model of the Mecalac AS210e family with a 3-cc bucket, a diesel engine develops 175 hp.
