Steyr created their first farm tractor in 1915. The Type 180, the first Steyr tractor built in bulk, was designed on October 29, 1947.

Steyr-Daimler-Puch AG incorporated the St. Valentin facility in 1957. The main plant in Steyr stopped producing and selling tractors in 1974, and the factory in St. Valentine took over. A licensing deal was struck in 1978 with the Ankara-based Turkish business Donatim. In order to collaborate on the manufacturing of engines, a partnership was created in 1986 with the Finnish company Valmet.

The Steyr-Daimler-Puch AG was reorganized in 1990, and as a result, the division in charge of manufacturing tractors and agricultural tools became a subsidiary of Steyr Landmaschinentechnik GmbH, which has its registered office in St. Valentine.

In 1996, Case Corporation purchased Steyr Landmaschinentechnik GmbH and changed the company’s name to CASE-STEYR Landmaschinentechnik. The Steyr CVT with continuously variable S-matic gearbox was selected “Tractor of the Year” in 1999 at the Agritechnica trade exhibition.

The Steyr CVT series and the equivalent Case IH CVX series, which range in horsepower from 120 to 170, entered series production in 2000. The business changed its name to CNH Austria GmbH in 2002.

New versions of the CVT series and the Steyr Profi series went into production in 2003. St. Valentin became the center for Case IH and Steyr throughout Europe in 2005. The CVT, Profi, and 9000 MT lines of new-generation tractors started production in 2007.
