Atlet Forklift Manual
The Swedish company Atlet Ltd. specializes in logistics and warehouse management systems and the production of warehouse handling equipment. Mölnlikk, Sweden, is home to the company’s main office.
Atlet’s origins may be traced back to 1958, when Knut Jacobson started making tools in his garage in Gothenburg, Sweden.
Under its original name, Elitmaskiner (or “Elite Machines”), the firm manufactured exclusively hand trucks.
After amassing a wealth of information in the field, Knut Jacobson created the first stacker stand, which had the same load capacity as a stacker but could maneuver down smaller aisles owing to a patented side stabilizer mechanism.
In 1966, the company rebranded as Atlet; by then, it was already exporting equipment to Norway and developing the Dutch market; in 1969, the company opened its first office in England; the following year, in addition to equipment, Atlet started offering professional driver training; this program eventually grew into the creation of software solutions for material handling simulation; today, Atlet is actively engaged in research into the design of ergonomic equipment and is a leader in the field.
Nissan Motor Company’s Nissan Forklift division purchased Atlet AB that same year.
UniCarriers acquired Nissan Forklift and Atlet in 2012. UniCarriers is the new manufacturer of previously sold under the Atlet brand name equipment.
