JAC Trucks

The Chinese company JAC Motors (Jianghuai Automobile Co. Ltd), which produces cars and buses of the same name, was established in 1999 based on the state-owned Hefei Jianghuai Automobile Factory, founded much earlier, in 1964. Although the main products of JAC Motors are commercial vehicles: JAC trucks (sold in some countries under the brand name Jianghui), buses, and forklifts, recently, the company has been actively developing and manufacturing cars, SUVs, and electric vehicles.

Model range of JAC trucks

The range of JAC trucks includes:

• small extra light trucks JAC 1020KW1 and 1020KWD carrying up to 0.98 tons of cargo with a wheelbase of 2400 mm, as well as light trucks JAC 1020K/KR1 with a payload capacity of 2.2 tons with a base increased by 200 mm;
• light trucks JAC 1040 and 1042 with payload capacity from 1 to 3 tons and wheelbase from 2490 to 3360 mm;
• Light trucks JAC 1045 series, including modifications 1045KRD, the wheelbase of which is 2800 mm, capable of carrying up to 2.5 tons of cargo, as well as models 1045K / KR1, 1045KS / KR1S, 1045K2, and 1045K2 / R1 with a wheelbase increased to 3308 mm and lifting capacity from 2.5 to 3 tons.
• JAC 1048 trucks with a load capacity of 3.5 and 4 tons with a base size of 3308 mm;
• Low-tonnage JAC dump trucks of the 3045, 3048, and 3072 series, the carrying capacity of which reaches 4 tons;
• JAC 1061K and 1061K/KR1 trucks with the same payload capacity as 1048;
• trucks JAC 1063K and 1063K/KR1 capable of carrying up to 4.5 tons of cargo with a wheelbase of 4150 mm;
• flatbed trucks JAC 1083 with a maximum allowable cargo weight of 6 tons;
• medium-duty trucks JAC 1130 and 1131 with a payload capacity of up to 12 tons and a wheelbase of 5000 mm;
• heavy three- and four-axle trucks JAC 1200 (capacity 17 t), 1251 (capacity 21.3 t) and 1312 (capacity 31 t);
• JAC truck tractors models 4181, 4183, 4253 and 4251 with a permissible total weight of up to 33.8 tons and a wheelbase of up to 3050 + 1350 mm;
• Heavy construction dump truck JAC 3251, gross weight of which is 40 tons, permissible load weight is 28.6 tons, and the wheelbase is 3690 + 1350 mm.

JAC Chinese commercial trucks are typical representatives of the Chinese automotive industry, with the same advantages and disadvantages as other trucks from the Middle Kingdom.

Many owners, in their reviews, note the positive qualities of JAC trucks: small chassis dimensions, simple and economic engine design, comfortable cab, high maintainability of all components, and the low cost of the truck itself, as well as low maintenance costs. However, the disadvantages of Chinese technology are also known and are often mentioned in driver reviews: unstable manufacturing quality of individual components, unreliable electrics, and poor sound insulation.

Due to the visual similarity of JAC light trucks with Japanese Isuzu Elf cars, in the reviews of drivers and mechanics, there is an opinion that the Isuzu Elf is a Japanese analog of the Chinese truck JAC 1040, but this is not entirely true.

Some design solutions used in Chinese JAC trucks were indeed developed under the influence of Japanese products. But all JAC truck parts are made in China and have a different marking system from Japan. Therefore, it is unlikely that it will be possible to find, for example, a 100% complete Japanese analog of Chinese spare parts for a JAC car.
