Webasto history

Webasto” – one of the first companies that dealt with the problems of temperature regulation in the car:

  • since 1935, liquid heaters for cars and buses were born;
  • Heaters, heating the liquid in trucks, appeared in 1939;
  • in 1946, autonomous heaters for buses appeared in the markets;
  • by the end of 1960, the company provides heaters that heat up the liquid in the cooling system for all types of motor vehicles;
  • in 1965, the company began developing and then selling air conditioners for SUVs, sports and conventional cars.

In 1932, the company began selling folding roofs for motor vehicles, and later began production of steel specimens. In 1967, a world event happened: the company released the first movable roof with glass on the electric drive. In 2003, the roof was made of durable glass for cars Maybach 62, which changes the percentage of transparency, which creates the illusion of an invisible surface. With roofs of glass of different transparency “Webasto” equip cars of different brands. Products manufactured by the company also took its place in the design of sports cars and SUVs, and the unique system of pulling a figure on the hood of a Rolls-Royce car became the first of its kind. The implementation and supply of automotive climate components are handled by three divisions: Roof, Convertible and Body. The company itself has about 9.5 thousand employees.
