Clark Forklifts Manuals PDF

In Buchanan, a tiny hamlet in southern Michigan, USA, CLARK Equipment developed the first tractor. A “Tructractor” powered by gasoline was the first in the industrial sector. More than seventy-five types of the CLARK Tractractor had been produced by the time the company officially split from CLARK Equipment in 1919.

In 1921, CLARK Tructractor released Trucklift, the first standing-driver ICE-type loader with a 2–5 tons capacity. CLARK introduced the “Tructier” in 1928, the first forklift to use hydraulics.

After the success of CLARK’s “Carloader,” the first compact forklift, in 1938, numerous other forklift manufacturers hurried to create competing versions.

The “Utilitruc” high-capacity forklift, developed for mechanical engineering and port handling, was first introduced in 1939.

Almost simultaneously with the introduction of similar machinery in Europe, the first electric forklift was manufactured in 1942. In WWII, CLARK loaders accounted for 90% of all equipment of their kind used by the United States Army; the company dominated the North American market; the Clipper model became the de facto standard for loaders in the 2,000-pound class, and the Clipper commanded a 50% share of the market in America. After World War II, the name “CLARK” became synonymous with “loader” in the United States since no airport operated without CLARK loaders.

In 1948, CLARK replaced the dry friction clutch used on forklifts with the Dynatork, an electromagnetic mechanism between the engine and gearbox. By partnering with Tutt-Bryant Limited of Sydney and Schultz-Stinnes of Essen, Germany, CLARK Equipment has officially entered the worldwide material handling sector.

In 1951, CLARK began manufacturing the Hydrolift and Electrolift trolleys; in 1956, a new line of forklift trucks powered by electric and gasoline engines were introduced; in the 1960s, CLARK manufactured all of its forklifts with an enclosed cab and a backrest for the driver’s seat; and in 1967, CLARK released the first three-wheeled electric forklift truck in the USA; the model immediately gained wild popularity due to the presence of a large number of companies with small warehouses The C500 series follows a year later, with a wide variety of tires and a maximum payload of 80,000 pounds.

After selling 500,000 units of the C500-50 forklift in 1976, CLARK gave one to the University of Michigan at Komatsu, which is still in use today.

CLARK introduced the EPA 20-30 and ECA17-30 ergonomic forklifts in 1981. A short time later, the CLARK program was launched to improve workplace safety; as part of this initiative, a patent for enhanced seat safety solutions was made available to all forklift manufacturers at no cost, an act for which CLARK continues to receive gratitude from many of these companies and their regular operators.

When CLARK introduced its CNG engine option in 1991, it dramatically reduced pollution. CLARK acquired Samsung Fork Lift Company in 1998 and rebranded it as CLARK Material Handling Asia, where it now designs and manufactures the CLARK M-Series of forklifts.
